This stone had come from a friend who later went on to found Misfit Diamonds, I had grabbed this stone (way back in 2015-2016ish). It comes from the Diavik mines (based in the Northwest Territories), a mine that is no longer in operation and is now closing responsibly. 2017 is when I had just started focusing on Canadian gemstones and this was the first one I had seen that wasn't white, so of course, this had to come home with me.
Something rather unusual about this stone is its cut. This is a double cut, meaning on one side you have a style of cut and on the other side you have something completely different, in this case, rose cute on the pavilion one size and a brilliant cut table. This makes the stone flexible for all sorts of orientations and funky designs.
